While Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for image editors, the reality of microstock is the less processing, the better. If you have a less expensive option, don't hesitate to use it. Typical processing only requires minimal sharpening and perhaps some contrast adjustment. Less expensive alternatives to Photoshop are Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop Elements, and Gimp (free). One big advantage to using Photoshop is the wealth of information online in the form of tutorials and questions answered in forums.
